Anonymous Sadaqa Jaáriya at Kalemah - Being Responsible Muslims (Important Notice)

Alhamdulillah, Kalemah center is extremely pleased with the patronage of all its students and guests. It is one of the objectives of Kalemah that the Muslim Community in Dubai and the wider U.A.E. feel fully comfortable on our premises, like a second home.

However, we have noticed several instances of items being left at Kalemah anonymously, both in the men's and ladies' sections. These items are Islamic materials and range from audio cassettes to da'wah materials to copies of the Qur'an. Our staff has been unable to trace the owner/source.

We understand that the owners may be interested in doing secret good deeds as they are of great merit with the Almighty, but we feel that leaving items on Kalemah premises, for whatever purpose or intention, is inappropriate for a number of reasons.

Firstly, there is an issue of safety and security, and this should not need further explanation. Alhamdulillah, we are blessed with the safety and security of living in Muslim Lands, but it is not from the behavior of the Muslims to be careless or lackadaisical in such matters.

Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that a person asked the Messenger of Alla (may the best peace and blessings be upon him), “Should I tie my camel and have Tawakkul (trust in Allah for her protection) or should I leave her untied and have Tawakkul.” The Messenger of Allah (may the best peace and blessings be upon him) replied, “Tie her and have Tawakkul.” (Hasan) [Jami At-Tirmidhi]

Secondly, we at Kalemah prefer that anyone who wishes to leave materials at Kalemah, for whatever purpose or intention, inform and take approval from Kalemah staff either in person or through phone/email.

Thirdly, informing Kalemah staff would help us to determine how best to utilize your donations/gifts or to deal with them according to your specific requirements. E.g. a person may leave copies of the Qur'an with English translation, wishing that they be distributed among New Muslims.

Fourthly, the Muslim does things in the proper place, at the proper time and in the proper manner.

On the authority of Abu Ya’la Shaddad ibn Aws (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (may the best peace and blessings be upon him) said: Verily Allah has prescribed Ihsan (proficiency, perfection) in all things. So if you kill then kill well; and if you slaughter, then slaughter well. Let each one of you sharpen his blade and let him spare suffering to the animal he slaughters.” [Saheeh Muslim]

Similarly, if anyone would like to remove items from Kalemah premises (e.g. borrowing a book from our library) we kindly request that they inform and take the permission of Kalemah staff.
Barakallahu feekum
